Highlighting Excellence Across the Powder Metallurgy Value Chain

The EPMA Powder Metallurgy Innovation Awards have, over the years, played an important role in promoting and stimulating interest in Powder Metallurgy technology. Open to companies manufacturing using Powder Metallurgy, the awards celebrate major achievements in innovation and successful commercialisation, recognising developments that contribute to improved sustainability, cost efficiency, quality and the wider adoption of PM technology.

Four category winners will each present their award-winning innovation in a 10-minute presentation. In addition, nine other shortlisted innovations will be showcased through 5-minute “Spotlight” presentations, offering concise insights into emerging technologies, new materials, advanced processes and innovative equipment.

A New Era for the Innovation Awards

In 2026, the former Component Award has evolved into the Innovation Award, opening the competition to a broader range of technological achievements across the Powder Metallurgy value chain.

The new structure features four distinct categories:

Innovative components manufactured using any PM process, including Press & Sinter, Additive Manufacturing, MIM, HIP and FAST/SPS.

New or improved materials developed for PM processes, including hard and superhard materials, functional materials and other advanced PM materials.

Innovative process implementations delivering improvements in cost, quality, sustainability or manufacturing performance.

Equipment designed and developed specifically for the Powder Metallurgy industry.

The 2026 competition attracted 22 submissions, demonstrating the strong commitment of the PM community to advancing performance, sustainability and manufacturing capability.

Following evaluation, 13 innovations have been shortlisted across the four categories.
