As part of the EPMA Euro PM2026 European Congress and Exhibition on Powder Metallurgy, the EURO-TITAN – REPTiS – AVANTiS Workshop will bring together experts from academia, industry, and public institutions to explore the future of the titanium value chain in Europe.

The workshop, organised by the REPTiS project in collaboration with the EURO-TITAN and AVANTiS Horizon Europe projects, will focus on titanium as a Critical Raw Material for the European Union and on the solutions needed to strengthen Europe’s resilience, from extraction and processing to recycling and sustainable supply.

Understanding the Titanium Value Chain

Titanium is essential for high-performance and traceable applications in key sectors such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and advanced manufacturing. While Europe has significant expertise in titanium dioxide production and access to primary mineral resources such as ilmenite, the continent remains dependent on imports for titanium metal production, including sponge, ingots, and powders.

This workshop will address the challenges and opportunities linked to developing a more secure, sustainable, and low-carbon titanium supply chain to support the future of European industry and the powder metallurgy community.

Through a combination of expert presentations and panel discussions, participants will explore the complete titanium value chain, including:

• Mining and Resources
  Sustainable exploitation of primary minerals and secondary resources.
• Advanced Processing
  Beneficiation challenges and innovative “green” processing technologies.
• Refining and Optimisation
  From titanium sponge production to alloys and powders, including predictive maintenance and in-line process optimisation.
• Market and Sustainability
  European market perspectives, recycling strategies, circularity, and achieving a Social License to Operate (SLO) for European mining activities.
